Perinchellur

The present-day Taliparamba area of ​​Kannur district was known as Perinchelloor. Perinchelloor was one of the important Brahmin centers in Kerala itself. The direct meaning of the word Perinchelloor is the place where the name was heard. Perunchelloor used to provide a platform for debates and debates between scholars. Brahmins who came from other places used to come to Perinchelloor and engage in debates and try to prove their ability in Vedic science and debate science.

Old North Malabar is called the Aiim Perumalidam. It was described as such because of the presence of five great Perumas. These are Payyannur Karthikeya Perumal, Perinchelloor Rajarajeswara Perumal, Perinchelloor Balakrishna Perumal, Thiruvangad Sree Ramachandra Perumal, and Kottiyoor Dakshina Murthy Perumal.

Perinchelloor Fort was known as Karipath Fort. Perinchelloor is also known as Lakshmi Puram and Taliparamba.

In the Prajayat system, it is customary for the Thaliyathiriyans to come together and decide the affairs of the country. Perinchelloor is also the main place where the Thaliyathiriyans meet, and thus the name Taliparamba came to be associated with that place.
